Delivering social value through our projects

At MAC we are fully aware of our social responsibility commitments.

We also understand that, although our projects can bring significant value to communities once completed by creating better facilities and opportunities, they can also have an impact and cause disturbance to the local area and people’s everyday lives during the construction process.

Our aim as a company is to reduce this impact as much as possible with careful planning and consideration during our time in each area.

Our CSR Pledge

The entire MAC organisation is committed to:

  • Sharing training opportunities with other organisations on site and members of the local community where appropriate

  • Supporting apprentices and trainees, providing opportunities wherever possible and sharing best practise with other organisations

  • Providing employment opportunities for unemployed people and those who find it difficult to get into work

  • Prioritising local people when looking to fill vacancies rather than going further afield

  • Providing high quality work experience placements for students and local people who are interested in getting into a career in construction

  • Supporting the local supply chain when placing orders for labour and materials

  • Providing an inclusive working environment where people feel valued and respected regardless of gender, race, colour, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, disability or age

  • Taking all reasonable steps to ensure that our chosen systems and installation techniques are environmentally friendly and energy conscious in line with our C02 reduction strategy.

Social Value in Action

On a recent high profile project, MAC worked closely with the main contractors to embrace the Social Value Action Plan recruitment process as part of our compliant contract delivery.

This included involvement with the ‘You Matter Communities’ scheme, providing local communities and people with an opportunity to access small grants, volunteer time and unused materials from the construction process.

MAC Social Value

Delivering on Our Promises

At MAC we are fully committed to minimising any potential impact that our activities may have on local communities and the wider environment by carrying out our activities in a responsible, ethical way.

We will endeavour to deliver sustainable roofing and cladding solutions on all of our projects that carefully balance economic, environmental and social issues.

Community Feedback

I send this letter to say thank you on two counts, firstly for allowing me to take the excess insulated cladding for future use when the need arises, and secondly for considering the environmental impacts associated with the construction project. In allowing me to receive your excess material, this has prevented items and equipment associated with the build ending up in landfill as well as reducing the carbon footprint associated with disposal – I am a local landowner living withing 5 miles of the project so this means a lot to me.

Mr Andrew Harby, Turnpost Farm, Nottinghamshire

Aberdeen City Council has had a very positive experience of working with MAC Roofing in the context of supporting delivery of community benefits to date. MAC Roofing have delivered benefits on schedule, maintaining regular and clear channels of communication throughout and have been receptive to suggestions and support from the Council and other relevant local agencies. MAC Roofing have developed good, professional working relationships with colleagues in Aberdeen City Council and have demonstrated creativity, flexibility and adaptability which has added value to the relationship.

Tanita Addario, Project Officer, Aberdeen City Council

I would like to take the time to thank the team at MAC who have diligently worked with us and supported us tirelessly at our MTE (Meet the Employers) event.

We have had Susan Jones be very proactive and we have seen positive outcomes to most of our learners being either employed or interviewed for positions.

MAC are very good at communicating and have given our learners great IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance) concerning industry opportunities.

Keep it up MAC!
